Friday May 12,1995/Last Phone Call
I arrived home from work about 5:30pm and was rushing around trying to get ready to go to dinner with some friends...they were to pick me up about 6pm. Shortly after I arrived home, the phone rang and I heard, "Hi Mom, this is Julie, just wanted to call and wish you a Happy Mother's Day.." As always, I was very happy to hear from her....she would be the first one to tell you, I would complain because she didn't call often enough... We talked for a few minutes, I said hello to "Miz Kayleigh" also, then Julie said she would let me go, so I could get ready to go to dinner....I said, "Please call me tomorrow or Sunday, I will be home all weekend." She replied that she would try to call me, but couldn't promise, there was suppose to be bad weather all weekend with tornado watches (or as Kayleigh called them "naida watches") We wished each other a Happy Mother's Day and said I love you, then hung up....
That was the last time I ever talked to my Julie Ann...

The Last Time I Saw My Daughter, Julie (May 8th 1994)
On May 4th 1994, a dear friend of mine in Pilger, Ne. had passed away. On May 5th, I drove to Columbus and stayed with Julie, so I could go to the funeral in Pilger on May 7th. I had to leave Columbus on Sunday the 8th, as I had to return to work on Monday and promised I would see her the following year, when my vacation time was available.
I can still feel the hugs and kisses I received from Julie that morning before I left...
Little did I know at the time, that it would be the Last Time I saw her and that it would be her funeral. that would bring me back to Columbus, one year later..
It is eleven years since Julie has been gone and although the days are easier now... during the month of May, almost every waking moment remains a time of Heartfelt Rememberance and Heartache. That just never goes away....

Welcome Kayleigh Ann, February 3rd, 1988!
And then there is Miss Kayleigh Ann Hadcock born ready to let everyone know she had arrived. "Such a noise maker for just a little bit of a girl" I spent a lot of time with Julie after Kayleigh was born. Just enjoying her and the kids... "That is, when Kayleigh didn't have a tummy ache!" "BOY, SHE DID KEEP US HOPPING!" Julie loved her family.... and I love them too..... - Grandma Jenkins -

Welcome Curtis Lawrence, July 9th, 1986!
Julie gave birth to her first child on this date...20 years ago!
Where has the time gone?
I had spend an entire week over July 4th with her, anticipating Curtis Lawrence's arrival. Julie's father and I had plane reservations on July 7th to go visit Julie's sister Carol, in Virginia. Needless to say, Curtis decided to arrive while Grandma was gone!
Julie for medical reasons, was not even suppose to be able to have any children. She was so happy when she learned she was going to have a baby! She was such a good and caring Mom. Anyway... As soon as we returned home from Virgina, I was in the car and on my way to Columbus, to meet my new grandson... Now Curtis Lawrence has 2 babies of his own....
Where does the time go?
- Grandma Jenkins -
PS...When Curtis Lawrence was born, Julie and Curtis had an apartment in Columbus. When Curtis Lawrence's daughter Shantel was born, the address on her birth certificate, was the Very Same As The Address on His Birth Certificate! Right down to the Very Same Apartment Number! Curtis Lawrence was not aware of this until he compared his birth certificate, with his daughter's! Rather a strange coincedence, that both he and his wife, along with his Mom and Dad, both lived in the same apartment, as they were beginning their lives together. and almost 20 years difference in the two events!.

August 13, 1961/from Mom's perspective...
This was a warm lazy Sunday afternoon... I spent the afternoon, playing shuffleboard, with Julie's paternal great-grandparents waiting for her Dad to get off of work, it was a day for overtime on a moving job...He finished up about 6pm and after we all visited for awhile. It was agreed that we would go out to eat, at one of the local mexican food resturants....well....we got as far as the resturant parking lot and Julie informed me, in the manner of a few pains, that it was Not Time to Eat! It was time to go to the hospital...so off we went. This beautiful little girl was born at 11:47pm on this date and by 6am Monday morning... Mom was not only Overjoyed, but Very Hungry...
